QATAR IS JOINING Y4PT !

I must say, no better days I’ve seen since the birth of the Y4PT Foundation!

Time is running fast and a series of presentations, activities and events are follow one another, leaving short spaces for daily interactions with you Ambassadors, and passionate people!

As well as many Y4PT Ambassadors involved now in their local activities and preparing new international ones, I’ve been also heading to Doha , Qatar, for an important moment dedicated to the Youth: particularly willing to show the importance of the youth during large events. I’ve been accompanied by one of our most active Y4PT Representatives, based in Brussels , Thiago Tavares, a brilliant Brazilian, full of ideas, abilities and skills!

We all know that Qatar will be hosting the World Cup in 2022, a date that is coming closer, where Y4PT is proposing to be involved, as well as we are involved in the Brazilian World Cup next summer 2014.

Qatar is a sovereign Arab state, located in Western Asia, occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeasterly coast of the much larger Arabian Peninsula: it is recognized as a high income economy by the World Bank and also the 19th most peaceful country in the world.
Qatar is currently undergoing transformation under the National Vision 2030, in which it expects to achieve advanced, sustainable and diversified education.

Through the Qatar Foundation, the country has built an “Education City”, hosting local branches of the Weill Cornell Medical College, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, Texas A&M’s School of Engineering, and other Western institutions.

Qatar Foundation is chaired by Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, and it has spearheaded Qatar’s drive to make itself a leader in education, science, community development and the arts in the region and beyond. It describes its aim as being to “support Qatar on its journey from a carbon economy to a knowledge economy by unlocking human potential”.

Together with UITP, Mowasalat (the local Public transport operator) and the Qatar Foundation, organizing and hosting our first Y4PT encounter with the Qatari Youth reality, we went through a productive experiment.

Thiago and I we involved a group of 15 students and young professionals, on an half hour round table, to get a “flashy” short state of the art and proposals for a new development of the PT perception in the country. Meanwhile, the room full of CE0’s was networking around us. the results where astonishing and promising!

Other enlightened presentations from our Omani Y4PT representatives guided by Prof. Rakesh Belwal and 2 incredible Young professionals from Kuwait, where the example of how the will, the enthusiasm and passion for changing things, can be transformed into reality.

Our journey in Qatar, as just begun: the students and professionals that participated to this first encounter, are now willing to be part of Y4PT and they already started to organize themselves in a group and coordinating the new born activities!

This introductory lines are a tribute to their energy and brilliant minds, with the will of going back soon there to undertake something spectacular you will hear about soon!
